First time i heard this song was on radio, i was only privileged to hear a part of it, before the song was taken off air. Then i thought to myself, this has to be a remix of an old classic by 9ice.
I was proven wrong just that same day when i was able to download the song and listen to it. Done by Kennis Music’s own Oluwajuwonlo, also known as Jaywon. And to the best of my knowledge, it is not even a sample of an old classic high-life song.
Whatever inspired Jaywon to do this track, i think he needs more such inspiration, “This year” is just the perfect song to usher in the year 2013, a song that takes us back to the roots of our own traditional music and tradition. It will definitely rock our local parties this year.
High life music at it’s best, every line of this song is a prayer of blessings, well written and delivered on a dope high-life beat. It is the kind of song that everybody will rock to, the young, the old, male and female, because it’s the type of song that cuts across generations, and such songs are called classics in my opinion.
The melody of the song is just fantastic, with our traditional sounds and vibes. The beat laid up a good foundation for the beautiful song by Jaywon, did y’all hear the lead guitar towards the end? Bliss. It is definitely a must listen for everybody.

I love the song too much. I heard it towards the end of 2012 and I decided it was going to be my ringtone all through the new year.
The nice part again is that Jaywon never mentioned 2013 in the whole song…meaning that by 2025, the song will still be relevant. As long as we all still want blessings. Who doesn’t like blessings?
