The Kwara State Government in March released over N1billion to about thirty-six contractors handling various road projects across the State.
The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya made this during on Saturday during the monthly APC Town hall meeting held at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin.
Yahaya said that the State governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed recently conducted an assessment tour of some of the projects and also flagged off new projects.
According to him, the Kwara Infrastructure Development Fund (IFK) has enabled the government implement projects in the face of the current economic situation.
He added that while some of the projects have been completed, the state government will ensure the completion of other ongoing projects and embark on new ones across the State.
Also speaking, Governor Ahmed said that as the government is embarking on infrastructure projects within the State, it will also initiate more empowerment programmes for youths and women.
On infrastructure, he told the audience his inspection of projects across the state will continue till all ongoing and infrastructure are completed just as he also announced plans to kick start the construction of KWASU campus in Osi and commence the Mass Transit Scheme, Maigida Soludero Transit.
