Thirty-seven students from Kano State studying at the Faculty of Nursing, Mansoura University, Egypt, have been withdrawn by the state government over their poor academic performance in the school.
The affected students risked expulsion because of their poor academic performance.
A statement signed by Mallam Usman Bello, the Director of Press to the Deputy Governor of Kano State and Commissioner for Education, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, disclosed that the university had already notified the consultant in charge of the students’ welfare about the development.
The students failed to score 2.0 Grade Point Average for the two consecutive semesters of 2015/2016 academic year despite what the report referred to as close academic supervision and support during their summer semester.
“The Kano State Government, based on the report and discussion with the consultant, decided to provide return tickets to the students to enable them come home and pursue an alternative academic programme.
