Lagos task force arrests suspected fake army officer

Operatives of the Lagos State Task Force has nabbed a fake Nigeria Army officer who obstructed the enforcement unit of the agency from performing their duties at Lekki area of Lagos.

Chairman of the task force, Olayinka Egbeyemi, a Superintendent of Police (SP) disclosed that the enforcement team nabbed the fake soldier during the demolition of shanties occupied by miscreants around White Sand School in Lekki.

He disclosed that the suspect obstructed the enforcement team and beat up a para-military officer attached to the agency. Egbeyemi noted that the suspect, who impersonated himself as an army Staff Sergeant an army cap on a mufti dress, adding that it was discovered after diligent investigations that he was a fake army officer, who has been terrorizing innocent members of the public around the area.

He, however, pleaded with the government to tamper justice with mercy, as he was ready to stop the illegal dealings and return the army cap to his brother in Abuja. A commercial bus driver, who simply identified himself as ‘Gani’ said Yaya and his friend had been terrorizing them along Lekki-Epe Expressway. Gani, a commercial bus driver, said the duo in the evening collect N100 each from every bus operating in the area daily.

The task force chairman enjoined members of the public to stop impersonating as security personnel as everybody has equal right before the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He, however, confirmed that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, has directed that the suspect be immediately charge to court.
