Kwara state to build new secretariat

The Kwara State Executive Council has approved the construction of a new State secretariat in Ilorin, the State capital to house the Ministries of Energy, Planning, Commerce and Water resources.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Mammud Ajeigbe while briefing pressmen on the outcome of the council’s meeting on Wednesday.

He noted that the approval came as a result of inadequacy of office space for civil Servants and political appointees and the need for a conducive working environment.
The commissioner said the project will commence in July with a contract sum of N1.18b and be completed within 9 months.

Alhaji Ajeigbe said the proposed site for the 4 blocks secretariat complex is the space that used to house the Ministry of Energy and the Board of Internal Revenue.

The commissioner noted that the project will be funded under the State’s Infrastructure Development Fund(IFK) to ensure completion on schedule.
