Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima, has assured 1,407 National Youths Service Corp (NYSC) members posted to the state of adequate security throughout their stay in the state.
Shettima who was speaking in Katsina during the passing out ceremony of the Batch B Stream 1 camped in the Katsina said “adequate military presence is available for your safety in all the places you will do your primary assignment.”
Represented by Mahdi Gazzali, the state chairman of NYSC governing board, Shettima said as change agents corps members should contribute to various government policies and programmes by actively mobilizing the local populace to re-awaken their consciousness.
“Most of you are to serve in the critical sectors of education and health where there is shortage of manpower, accept your posting in good faith and contribute meaningfully to enrich the lives of those worse affected by insurgency,” he said.
In his remark, the state NYSC coordinator Rabiu Aminu said discipline and commitment to service should be their watchwords as corps members who abscond or travel without proper communication shall be dealt with accordingly.
It could be recalled that Borno deployed corps members are camping in Katsina before their subsequent posting after their three weeks orientation in Katsina.
