Kwara Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has pledged to offset the allowances of ex-political office holders in the state to improve their welfare and ensure further contributions to the development of the state.
Governor Ahmed stated this today in Ilorin when he received members of Kwara State Ex-councillors Forum led by its Chairman, Hon. Fatai Adebayo Atanda at Government House.
He told the ex-councillors that they will be among those, including local government workers, pensioners, teachers and others, that will benefit from a revenue inflow the state government is expecting from the federal government.
The governor, therefore, assured them of continuous support and interface in key governance issues with a view to bringing their experiences to bear in the development of the state.
Dr Ahmed commended the Ex-councillors for standing by the PDP and its leadership in the state, saying that the APC is unstable and lacks the capacity to provide the leadership needed at this time.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Kwara State Ex-councillors Forum, Hon. Fatai Atanda had disclosed that the visit was to show solidarity with Governor Ahmed and his government for the remarkable achievements recorded so far.
“You have not disappointed us and I can assure you that Kwara Ex-councillors will continue to stand by you and our leader, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki. In fact, we are committed to the success of your administration,” Hon. Atanda said.
The Chairman also praised the governor for the existing peaceful coexistence between the government and the grassroots.
