Contractors handling various infrastructural projects across Kwara State have been charged to deliver quality jobs that will stand the test of time.
The State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, who gave the charge on Tuesday while on an inspection tour of projects in Kwara South Senatorial District of the State, noted that contractors must justify the huge resources spent by the government on the projects.
Governor Ahmed inspected the ongoing Anilelerin-Ita Erin-Agun road in Offa, Erin-Ile-Ilemona road and Ira road.
He assured the contractors of adequate and regular payment through the Kwara Infrastructure Development Fund (IFK). According to him, IFK as a funding model is a sustainable platform to encourage contractors to fund projects and get paid every quarter.
While briefing the governor on the State of work on the Anilelerin road, Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya disclosed that the 3.2km road would be completed before the end of April as 1.1 km of the road has been pavedd.
At the construction site of the Erin-Ile – Ilemona road, Alhaji Yahaya said that the contractor handling the 7.9km road project has paved 6.6km, noting that the project would be completed within the next few weeks.
The Commissioner also informed the governor that asphalt had already been laid on 12km out of 17km Ilemona-Ira road and assured that the project will be delivered soon.
Governor Ahmed noted that the government is committed to providing quality infrastructural projects across the state to improve the state’s socio-economic development.
