Holland sack manager Danny Blind following their loss to Bulgaria

Holland have sacked manager Danny Blind following their 2-0 loss to Bulgaria in the World Cup qualifiers.

The Dutch side are faltering in their bid to qualify for the tournament in Russia next year, sitting fourth in their group.

Blind had been in charge of the national team since 2015 after taking over from Guus Hiddink.

In a statement, Holland wrote: ‘We have respect for what Danny meant for us and for the team during his tenure.

‘But because the results have been disappointing, and now qualifying for the World Cup in Russia seems difficult, we feel we unfortunately have to say goodbye to him. ‘

Blind said: ‘We were on the right track, I gave it all I had in me and it is a pity that it ends with this.’
