Emmanuel Adebayor scored a hat-trick on Monday night as Istanbul Basaksehir crushed city rivals Galatasaray 4-0.
The well-travelled former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham man scored in the 11th, 44th and 57th minutes.
His side now sit five points behind leaders Besiktas with seven games remaining.
The 33-year-old has scored five goals for Basaksehir since joining them as a free agent earlier this year.
The Togo striker’s return to goalscoring form is in stark contrast to his final season in English football.
After a January move to Crystal Palace on a six-month loan, he found the back of the net only once and was released after the expiry of his contract.
He also featured for his country in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, playing in all three games as Togo crashed out in the group stage.
