Tottenham confident they will keep Dele Alli this summer despite Real Madrid and Manchester City

Tottenham believe they are virtually certain of keeping Dele Alli this summer.
Alli recently signed a new long-term contract at White Hart Lane, yet fears were surfacing that one of Europe’s big guns would pursue the England star this summer after another outstanding season.

Real Madrid and Manchester City have both shown a concrete interest in luring the 20-year-old midfielder away from north London.

But Tottenham officials are growing increasingly confident that neither club will solidify their interest during the summer window.

Real Madrid are in the market for a major signing this summer but Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is fast emerging as their primary target ahead of next season.

Likewise, City manager Pep Guardiola is understood to be prioritising other positions, while Etihad chiefs know the chances of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy selling Alli to a direct rival are remote.

With that in mind, Spurs are confident of avoiding an unwanted transfer saga for Alli at least for this summer.

The news will come as key boost to manager Mauricio Pochettino who believes he is on the cusp of creating something special at Tottenham.

Work has begun on the club’s summer transfer plans, with recently appointed head of recruitment Steve Hitchen wasting no time in getting to grips with his new role.

The club are keen on landing a new central defender, with Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson understood to be one on Tottenham’s radar.

Tottenham’s search for a new centre-back indicates Pochettino will continue to utilise the 3-4-3 system he has utilised at various junctures this season.
