Shehu Sani Loses APC Senatorial Ticket To Uba Sani

The Senator representing Kaduna Central District, Shehu Sani, has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial ticket to Uba Sani.

Uba Sani who won with 2,088 votes defeated Senator Shehu Sani, who got 15 votes.

Other aspirants, Usman Ibrahim, got 129 votes, a former Senator, General Sani Saleh, got 55 votes while another contestant, Shamsudeen Shehu, got six Votes respectively.

A total of 2,383 were accredited from seven Local Government Areas for the primary election.

Chairman of the electoral committee, Mathew Idouriyekemwen, who announced the results of the primaries held at Umaru Musa Yaradua Sports Multipurpose Hall, in the Kaduna State capital, declared the primary as free and fair.

Four of the senatorial aspirants participated in the exercise, however, Senator Shehu Sani was not present at the primary.

He described the primary as a “Kangaroo” exercise.

The party’s National Working Committee had earlier given an automatic ticket to the lawmaker but was revoked following a protest by the State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, some aspirants and other party leaders.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of the state, Bala Bantex, has been declared as the winner for the Kaduna South Senatorial primary.

He polled a total of 2,287 votes to defeat his rival, Senator Caleb Zagi who scored 268 votes.
